Mindset is Everything and The Foundation for your Dreams

You may have heard that MINDSET is EVERYTHING. As a business owner and leader in a direct sales business for over 30 years, I know this to be true. I also believe a Positive Mindset is everything to help you create your best life and dreams, and a Negative Mindset is everything that will keep you stuck and sad and never accomplishing your goals.
I was going through a rut in my direct sales business a few years ago. I was doing all the same things that made me a successful leader and grew my team before; I was consistent, did the “tried and true” methods of reaching out to people etc and nothing seemed to work. (Do you ever feel like that?) I knew I wanted and needed something different, so I found and followed an outline to create a morning routine, which included me writing down affirmations and reading them off to myself in the morning (typically when I was making breakfast). This was OK, but I found that I wasn’t doing it on a regular basis because it was cumbersome and time consuming to bring a printed copy to the kitchen, and then it was a pain in the neck to read and cook at the same time. Some people suggested taking the time to sit and read it, but honestly, I didn’t have the time to just sit and read that each day. Can you relate to that?
A friend and coach suggested I record myself and listen to that instead of reading it. This was the beginning of creating my own mini podcast to myself - my “Mojo Morning”.
This shifted everything for me. It became my own positive morning pep talk (I call it a Pepe talk, since my last name is Pepe! ) I started to realize that I was going to be able to push past this work bump in the road. Each morning, with my Mojo Morning personal “podcast” to myself, I told myself all my accomplishments, all my goals and dreams, my values, who I was helping and why I could do it. Even if I started the morning on the “wrong side of the bed”, when I listened to my Mojo Morning Mindset I flipped the switch and went through the day with positivity and confidence. It not only worked for “work” but for all the things in my life. I could be having a bad day, and it would cheer me up!
So, you may ask, “How the heck do I cultivate a positive mindset when the world seems quite crazy and depressing and things around my life and work aren’t going as I would like? My answer is that it is an ongoing process, and it takes a bit of consistent work, just like anything that is worthwhile, but YOU CAN create a positive mindset.
The first thing you need to do is to REALLY WANT it! Decide to work at it everyday. It’s not a chore, but it takes some effort. It’s super easy to just stay stuck and dig into a deeper hole with a negative mindset.
What should you do next? Create your own Morning Mindset routine that you literally will “talk to yourself” each day. When you start adding this to your routine, you will be amazed at the difference it will make in your day.
Remember, I am not talking about all the things you’ve heard before about saying affirmations in the mirror, smiling and standing tall, etc. What I’m talking about in a Morning Mindset is more and has really helped me to overcome obstacles, and it can help you too!
Here’s the most important part about this mindset practice - DO IT each day. Make this a habit and you will start to see a difference in your outlook and how you tackle your tasks and goals for the day.
